Hayward H300 Won't Stay Lit

The "system normal" led on the front panel tells you that all of the safeties appear to be good.

If the unit lights and then shuts off in 3-4 seconds and cycles like this, it is most likely the control module. It is not seeing the signal back from the ignitor saying that it lit.

Are you sure the heat exchanger isn't sooted and clogged thus causing the unit to shut down like this? It can be the cause on these old units. If the burners light and the flame rolls around in the unit it can cause this type of issue.

You would need to remove the burners/tray to clean it. You do not need to remove it from the unit. Once the burners are removed you can use a hose to wash it down from the top and them spray up underneath the heat exchanger. Post a picture of it and lets see if it appears to be dirty.

OK. You can try the flashlight trick. After you remove the burners/tray, then shine a flashlight up onto the heat exchanger and then look down from the top to see if you see the light. If not, it's dirty and clogged. Move the flashlight around to check out all of it.
