Hi, I purchased the platinium edition T-5 cell a whlle back. I used it for a few months despite the false high salt reading and occasional hi salt shutdowns. It only shutdown here and there but now it is shutting down all the time. I was wondering if I used the "J-4" jumper, would this solve the problem with the high salt readings and shutdown by fooling the AquaTroll into thinking it was the larger T-15 cell?

Give it a try and see what diagnostic readings you get.

If it does not work you can cut the jumper and restore the board back.

Let us know how it works out.

Good news, did the J-4 jumper and it looks like it fooled the AquaTrol into thinking it was a larger cell. The salt reading is no longer reporting false highs over 5000, now reading 3000, current 24, amps 5.35. Did a test on the output and it is putting out a ton of chlorine.

Sounds like the cell is a mislabeled T-15 cell.

How do you know for sure that the salinity is not that high?

How many plates in the cell?

Here are the dimensions of the Hayward plates:

T-15 has 13 Titanium Plates, 150 x 63mm. Produces 1.47 lbs/day.

T-9 has 13 Titanium Plates, 101 x 63mm. Produces 0.98 lbs/day.

T-5 has 7 Titanium plates, 150 x 63mm. Produces 0.735 lbs/day.

T-3 has 7 Titanium Plates, 101 x 63mm. Produces 0.53 lbs/day.

Note that the white parts are not the plates, they are plastic parts of the frame.

How do I know ? Salt dip stick test, electronic meter test, and old Hayward cell all read about 3100 ppm.

If you have 7 plates, then the salinity is probably much higher than you think.
the cell is connected to the pool and I did not count
Test strips are not super reliable.

An old cell can read low as it wears out.

Is the meter calibrated?

You should get a K-1766 salt test kit.

Yes the meter is calibrated with a calibration test solution that I purchased from the meter manufacturer, and as far a everything else goes, as long as it works and I am getting a good chlorine output, I am satisfied !
