Hayward AquaPlus and Goldline AQL-WW-P-4

Hello,

We have a wired remote (Goldline AQL-WW-P-4) that controls our AquaPlus (PL-PLUS) and recently it reads "Communication Error". I have done the following steps so far to try and troubleshoot:
- hard reset of the system (all breakers off and then restart)
- inspected the wire leading from AquaPlus main panel to the remote
- purchased another Goldline AQL-WW-P-4 and tried it

We are still getting the communication error.

Is there anything else I should try?

Thank you mknauss! The troubleshooting guide is helpful, however there is no information on testing/ troubleshooting an external controller (ours is wired). The main display is fine, but the external controller is showing the Comm Error. As an aside - there are additional Comm ports on the board - is it possible to use another Comm port?

I believe in settings you have to enable the external remote
