Hayward 1 hp 750w won't prime and run my water feature

Used to run three jets!... My landlord had his pool buddy change some old valves and back wash plumbing. The jets are on a separate circuit, but now they don't work!

The pump runs off a relay, voltage to the pump is 240v, I fill the basket with lots of water, pump come on, and sounds normal, but it really doesn't prime, and a little water squirts out and quits.

Is it the impellor...? I don't think the suction is blocked.

Typically if a pump will run, it will pump water if there are no suction side leaks, their is water to be pulled into the pump, and there is an exit for the water to flow out.

So check the suction side. Weir door, water level, pump basket lid, etc.
Check the filter.
