Having a pool built and need advice

19440 gallons is what I put on my profile. I guess it's good enough.
Within 500 is usually great. Due to evaporation and rain, it'll never be dead on. Mine can fluctuate 4 inches (+/- 2 inches) if I let it go waiting for it to fix itself. That's about 2000 gallons in my 20X40.

Hey!! Some of us in the peanut gallery want to see the pool pic filled with water!!

After all these months, I'd also like to suggest you become a TFP Supporter. While all the help you've rec'd has been free of charge, the website and upkeep do tend to cost something. Every little bit of support voluntarily offered helps keep this website up and running ad free.

Is there a way to add multiple photos in a gallery format? When I add photos one at a time, they are huge and take up too much space in the discussion.

I'm using a desktop. I can drag the edges of each photo to resize, but it would be nice if the forum did that automatically for me. Oh well!

Is it a one time donation, or recurring?

Oh and I'll take some fresh pics tomorrow when the sun is out. It's been cloudy lately. The pics I have aren't too great!

Sooooooo pretty! I love that deep blue color. Please toss a pic up below with the name/company of that color so others might like to use it too-

Besides brushing, is there anything else I should be preparing for before my PB does "pool school" with me? I think I still have another 3 weeks or so until they do a complete handoff. They send a guy out every couple days to test the water and toss chemicals in, so I haven't had to do that myself yet.

Practice faking interest. Also practice not spitting up when you're told nonsense based upon industry standards.

You *do* need how to fully work your system/ equipment pad. Pay full attention there and ask every mechanical question you can muster. Then come run it all by us because some of it will be wrong. Preferred RPMs or runtimes for example.

I would test the water just to be on the safe side. Share your results here for us to look over.
Ok I'll do this. I need to learn to use the test kit anyway. I have the TF-Pro test kit. Reading the included documentation, it seems like a lot to take in... Where should I start?

Where should I start?
Take any test and block off the rest of the sheet with spare paper, your hands, whatevs.

Gather that tests supplies and line them up, uncapped and in order. You don't even need to know what they are at this point. Just get #00009 (etc etc etc) ready to go.

Follow the stupid easy steps, one at a time. Seriously. The steps are 'fill vial to 10 ml', add drops of XXX, or 'swirl'. Zoom out and look at the whole card and it's advanced rocket science and you just can't. Ask me how I know.

Repeat for the other Tests.

The laminated card included with the kit has:
- Daily tests
- Weekly Tests
- Chlorine Drop Test
- Calcium Hardness Test
- Total Alkalinity Test
- CYA Test

Do I do all of them?

EDIT: There's also a salt water test separate from the laminated card, however I'm assuming I don't do that one yet since they haven't dumped salt in the pool yet. The PB said they don't do that until later.
