Have weird little oily spots on the surface or our salt pool that just break up when I try to scoop them out with the net. Would really like to know

My WAG is some type of pollen.
That type of surface debris should be cleaned up by the skimmer if you have a functioning weir door.

The looks like pollen. Are you seeing any of it on patio furniture, your car (if parked outdoors) or other outdoor surfaces?
Put a hairnet or skimmer sock on the skimmer basket and run the pump to capture it.

Hello Mikey I'm also Central Florida and have oak trees near my birdcage/pool area and have to skim and net skim the same and more.
