Harley's Pool

The doughboy did not move when the kids got to rock and rolling in the water. There is quite a bit of give with the walls of their kind of pool.

I KNOW digging is not fun but those kind of legs NEED to be supported by a block. It is not a good idea to even take the chance of the pool leg giving way due to wet clay/dirt.

Well, with a soft-sided pool you aren't building the walls and then filling sand in which gets contained by the stiff walls, you're placing the entire pool on top of the substrate. So it's a bit different of a construction.

BTW my round Intex XTR manual does not say to use pavers.

I used harbor freight anti-fatigue mats under a similar pool and loved it. It gave such a nice soft feel to the bottom of the pool.

Good news! The company is able to level my yard tomorrow and put the pavers in. So I'll be filling my pool tomorrow!

I am planning on getting the TF Pro, but it won't be here until Saturday. Should I fill it and just wait to test the water.. or should I get a cheap kit from Lowe's?

Also, I assume I test the water, put it in pool math calculator then I know what is needed? I'm doing liquid chlorine for this season probably.

What is your fill source?

I would only worry about adding about 3ppm of chlorine a day and adding 30 PPM of CYA via the sock method.

And you'll be fine until the test kit arrives.

City tap water

Okay I'll figure out how to add 3ppm in regards to gallons lol

Still need to get a floor for it but I can do that.

City fill is usually pretty good shouldn't have too many dissolved minerals. It might be a little chlorine and sometimes combined chlorine in tap water.

Good to know. Placed the order for the TF Pro. Almost went to pick it up but just don't have the time to drive 2hrs. Unless y'all say it's absolutely necessary haha

I just plugged in 10000 gallons (gold bar) as the pool size to make the math easy. Notice where it says Now (top brown bar). Go down to FC (yellow bar) and you will see I put n 4. Now look at Target (brown). I put in 8. The 4 and 8 are the ppm. I then put in % of my chlorine. It told me to put in 46 oz.

I hope this helps.

Oh okay I see. Let me try to see if I can recreate this on the app! If not I'll get my computer out

You can also just learn by dumping chlorine in, waiting a few hours and measuring (after dark). You'll pretty quickly figure out how much to use each day. It is not an exact science by any means.

My 16' x 48" uses ~20oz a day but I never measure it just glug glug in an approximate amount. Due to the fact that sunlight and chlorine load varies throughout the day and between each day, it's hardly possible to dose accurately anyways.

You can get the volume of your pool at the bottom of the old pool math page.

Well the test kit showed up today, but I still haven't filled. I put down anti fatigue mats and taped the seams. Anyways, the pool is "up" and I'll fill tomorrow.

I have a Hayward skimmer showing up tomorrow and I'm leaning towards not using either return from the original pool design and just using the Hayward skimmer as the only return.

What would be the best place to install it? And can I/should I get rid of both returns to just use the skimmer?1000007263.jpg
