Hello all...first time poster long time reader. Here in Austin the polar vortex got us...overnight single digits and sub zero winds...about 8” of snow. Pump was running until about 1230am when the power went out.
About 8 hours later and no power. I’ve turned off the breaker in case the power comes back as it looks like the pump basket is frozen and the pool is a skating rink. Not sure if there’s anything to do at this point (attempt to thaw the pad?) but with temps below freezing for a few more days if the power does come back would love any suggestions to limit damage. Thanks.

Welcome! I would carefully open the drain plugs on the pump basket and filter. Drape a blanket or tarp and perhaps see if you can find a way to carefully encourage defrosting the pump basket before it cracks. Leave the equipment covered and maybe place some cut up noodles or empty milk jug in the skimmer.

Welcome to TFP.
