Handrail required?

One day you will be old and really like having a hand rail... :mrgreen:

I suggest that you add a hand rail that you can take out.. This means that the mounting anchors are in place in the coping and are bonded like they should be. You can simply remove the railing and store it for you, or maybe an older loved-one, in the future.

I agree with Jim. I wish I had added a removable one when I built my pool. I don't like the looks but would have been nice to be able to put in for older family members, or in the future, as we get older, we might find it beneficial.

My pool was built last year and does not have rails, and most pools here to do not have the rails.

I would call your city/county inspector and see what they say. If they follow the ICC code that you attached, then they are not required.
