Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and somewhat new to pools, but I've been browsing and reading threads here since last year. My pool is just over 1 1/2" years old, and has a white base aggregate type finish, I know its not pebbletec, but I'll need to dig up the paperwork to see the brand. We are in Florida and use city water to fill it and top it off. So for some time now the pool has slowing started developing these grayish spots on the floor and walls. They range from 1/2" to 1" in size and won't come off with anything I've tried. They are not bumpy, and have the same texture and feel as the rest of the surface. When I look at them underwater with a mask, it almost seems like the tiny pieces of quartz or aggregate are the ones that have darkened and the marcite itself is still light. They won't lift or lighten with ascorbic acid, muratic acid, or rubbing them with trichlor tablets. Brushing them with a stainless steel brush does not remove them, but if I brush the long enough, it darkens the whole area and makes it worse. So you end up with a 1" grey spot in the center and the surrounding 6" -8" will just look dirty. I've asked my pool guy and several people at pinch a penny and no one has a clue. I'll include some photos for reference and thanks in advance for your time. According to my pool guy my water is fine, but I think I should order some new test kits and start monitoring things myself. Thanks in advance for your advice.
