I'm shooting to open my pool this weekend. In the midst of traveling for work time is not on my side. I usually purchase new flexible grey hoses each year for pump/heater/return. This year the price jumped drastically. I was going to go the PVC route but I'm only home for the weekend so I'm looking for a quick alternative. Is there any other hose I can buy at home depot or lowes that will work for me. Thank you.

You can use flexible schedule 40 pvc - you use pvc fittings, glue, & primer with it just like hard pvc.
it is more pricey than hard schedule 40 pvc. It is sold by the foot at most places- its also called spa tubing.
You’ll want to be sure to add unions for easy removal in the winter &/or for easy swaps with equipment whether you use flex pvc or regular pvc.
Either one only takes a couple hours to install once you have a plan & all the materials.
I have a mix of flex pvc, hard pvc, & hoses due to the placement of my pump, filter, & swcg. + the fact that I disassemble everything for the winter.
I don’t buy new hoses every year since I dry them out & store them indoors for winter.
I purchased These hoses in spring of 2019 & they’re still just fine.
