greenish truck fill water

so i got my liner replaced and got 2 trucks worth of new water. which is about 18k for my 27k pool. the water had a very light green hue. it was pretty light green and i was thinking maybe it was just the way new liner shows. but as it filled up more and then added my own fill water now it's pretty obviously green.

PH is 7.6 and Calcium hardness for the truck water was about 150ppm. water is clear, CYA is at zero, and FC is pretty low.

so now i don't know if i should try to get metal out or chlorinate. since the fist one would require for chlorine levels to be as low as possible.

i have to add that it looks noticeably greener today. there is a little more depth now, but i'm not sure if it would account for the change of the intensity of green that much. so maybe it turning green on me in a matter of one day and i should just shock it? it's not up to the skimmer yet, so i can't filter yet.

Try putting polyfill (pillow stuffing) in the skimmer and slowly start to add chlorine. It is iron and should filter out. When the polyfill gets brown, take it out and rinse it out.

Chlorinate. That will oxidize the metal so you can filter it out. Metal-out doesn't really remove it, it sequesters it, the way the hard candy shell sequesters the chocolate in an m&m. As time passes, you need to replenish it or the iron reappears. Better to suffer with a brownish pool for a day or two and then be rid of it for good, I say.

We filled our pool from our well. We knew the risks and knew we would have a battle when the water was 12" deep as it looked green from the metals. Our fears were confirmed when we added chlorine and the water turned brown almost immediately. Enter 5 gallon polyfil filter. It worked...

If you’ve got iron in your fill water, use Polyfill to remove it

EDIT: Found out this method only works if your iron is oxidized already, meaning it’s got a dull or bright green tint to the water, or a nasty brown tint. If you know you have iron in your fill water, but it isn’t oxidized yet, bring your pool to shock level and it’ll turn the telltale green...

still not clear what is happening. finally got enough water to put DE in my filter and started filtering. added 2G of CYA and brought it over the shock level. i have a chlorinator that typically outputs about 2-3ppm per 6-8 hour pump run. with initial dose of bleach, level seem to stay put around 18ppm for last 6 hours. my CYA is lowish for my pool (about 35ppm) and at those levels i go thru 3-4ppm of FC per day. so it doesn't seem like there is much going on in the water.

typically when i shock on opening my green clear water turns into milk grey as aglae is killed and it gets filtered out eventually. right now the water is still clear, but the level of green seems like it went down. no sing of iron oxidation.

i almost feel like the water can pre-charged with algea and it blossomed over the course of 1 day. bc today it was greener than yesterday. i feel with the metal it would not do that. but then the chlorine consumption is low and the water still transparent.

i'm running it overnight and the level will stay between shock and YM shock. we'll see in the morning

Oh Lordy does this bring back some unpleasant memories. When we had our brand new pool finished, we had the local fire company deliver the water. When it went in the pool, I was horrified - looked like a brown swamp. Unbeknownst to me, everywhere a load ended (it took hours - the trucks only held a few hundred gallons) left a lovely, wide brown stain - never got it out. So the new plaster was, in some respects, ruined before I even got to set foot in the pool. It turned into a blame game. The fire company said their trucks were clean so it must have been how the water came out of the hydrant where they filled each load. The local municipality, however, claimed the reverse. THEN (and here's the best part), about a day later I got a letter from our builder indicating to "make sure we add a Pool Magnet chemical prior to filling the pool so as to avoid staining". It was, shall we say, an inauspicious beginning. Oh well...water over the dam.

ok, i'm completely confused by what it was. the green pics from yesterday (greener than 2 days ago when it was originally filled), the blue is from today. still barely any chlorine consumption, nor any cloudiness from dead algae.
