I am not an expert at SLAM's, but been through about 6+ over the years. Normally, I have no issues. This time, I let the pool turn very green. I began the SLAM with CYA at 35 (which is what I thought it was because it has been that all summer), and that put my SLAM chlorine at 14. I brought it up, tested 3-5 times a day, maintained it, brushed, etc. The water went from dark green to clear but very cloudy (could not see drains, or even the brush head past about 5'). I am still losing about 3ppm chlorine overnight, so I know there is still algae, but it normally does not take this long for the SLAM. So I decided to test the CYA at pool store just in case all the rain we have gotten caused it to drop (I know the rules about pool store testing, but I am out of the solution, and figured with the machine testing, it cannot be that far off). They said CYA was 20. You guys have always said that anything below 30, just to use 30 as the number.
All this being said, do I assume it is 30, and just keep slamming, or should I add some stabilizer, retest CYA, and continue SLAM based on new CYA, or what? It has been 5 days, and I normally am a lot farther along or even done by now, and never really recall it being so darn cloudy.
