Green tinge. Halp! I have numbers just new to this.

So I have been doing this process since Friday night.

Water no longer has a green tinge really. Now it is kind of a hazy white.
I can see a few spots on the bottom where there is that green dust residue, but it is way less.

If I brush the bottom a little I can see it kick up some of the residue but it does not really change the color of the water much like before.

Does this sound like the process is working?

So I ran out of r-0871 and not a single pool store in my area carries it.

So in the mean time I have been dosing with bleach like I was before just remember how the previous day went.

Water today is much clearer, not as hazy.

There are still hints of green residue on the bottom. Will that disappear? Or will it need to be vacuumed/brushed so it can filter out?

Great! Just keep it at shock level until you are sure you have passed all three tests. This where most failures occur. Folks see clear water, say "wow, I did a great job" and let it slip. Clear water can still harbor live algae. I had to SLAM this year and my water was never anything less than sparkling.

Will do!

I keep adding bleach at intervals. I cannot wait to have R-0871 back.
Will make life way easier.

Did you call the Leslie's at BV? they MIGHT have it. 4468 Belden Village St NW, Canton, OH 44718
Phone (330) 491-9830

If you can't find it locally...I have a case of R-0871.
I didnt want to fool with shipping liquids, however:

A) I read the MSDS and it's not as harsh as I thought
B) You really really need it
C) I grew up in Canton OH ( I remember when BV was a field!)

It'll be quicker and maybe cheaper if you can get it at Leslie's, but if you still need it, PM me or email [email protected]

I ran out of R-0871 during my SLAM too. I found 1 PS in my area that did the refills on the Taylor reagents, but not one carried the R-0871. So I had to just continue to do blind adds too, and hope for the best until more came in.

Good deal, it would have taken a few days to get it to you anyway. Another place you might check out is Great Escape near BV. When I lived on the W. side of Cleveland we had one in N. Olmsted within a 1/2 mile of the other 3. I found their prices consistently better overall. I just dont remember if they sold reagents...

So the only issue I am having is sweeping up some residue on the bottom. It is just so fine my vaccuum does not pick it up.
Might have to get something different to get it.

Other than that it still going great. Down to 30 FC and still 0 CC.

A manual vac should be able to remove it, or at least mine did. You have to vacuum real slowly, and LOL sneak up on it because if not it will move the water around too much, and that just swishes, and tosses it around. You also might want to maintain a higher FC level until after you get it all out of there, just to be on the safe side. I hope this helps. Have a nice night :).
