Green Pool

Hey all,

22 year pool owner, with new pool and same old story. Green pool. Getting better though

Heres the story:

Put the new 27 emotional round in from leslies. Water fine and clear with chlorine tabs for the first 2-3 weeks! Since I never opened the old pool for the past 5 years, didn't have much supplies and didn't make a trip to Ocean State Job Lot, like I should have! :( After we had all the heavy rain a couple of weeks ago. A Jello pool was uncovered! Got to job lot and got my chemicals. Got my shock, stabilizer, ph up, and algaecide. Shocked it with 48oz granular, algeacide, and stabilizer, plus the chlorine tabs. So much that the OTO was orange for a few days. But with the pump running the green slowly disappeared to cloudy blue with green spots. Went in and vaccummed and then the green spread again. About 24oz more of shock and running the pump 24/7, pool started to clear up.

Went down to leslies on Saturday 9/1 for a water test since my k-2006 hasn't arrived yet!

Here's what they came up with:
FAC 10 TAC 10 CH 100 CYA 0 TA 40 PH 7.4 COPPER/IRON 0 TDS 100 PHO 300

Today:

CL BR 2 4
PH 6.8

Just added Alkilinity ruond 1230pm. Have to go check after Leslies report said to add 16.9 OZ of Alk Up after the chlorine came down. Pool is still little green but water is clear and liner is not slimy or anything. The guy said get the Chlorine down PH NOrmal and the Alk up and then bring back a sample and they'll start a green and clean treatment!

Basically I wanted to know is the Green and Clean treatment reallly worth it. Seemeed like when I slammed it and ran the pump it clouded uip!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks much and stay cool!

Welcome to the forum!

Good job on ordering a proper test. I suggest you do not add any thing other than a bit of liquid chlorine each day until you get the test kit.

While you are waiting on your test kit add liquid chlorine/bleach to put 5 ppm FC into your pool each evening.

Let us know when you get your test kit and post up the results.

would the liquid shock or bleach work good running the filter 24/7 get rid of the algae. Or should I check out Leslie's green n clean. He gave me a 5 page printout of the whole process. Sure hope I dont get screwed on the kit. I have some 6 way strips left over. But they don't have cya on them

The pool store potions are not needed. Chlorine is. The little bit I suggest you add each day until you get your test kit is for a holding pattern. It will not clear your pool. You need to SLAM Process. Read the article.

Take care.
