So I decided to break free from the chains of the pool stores to try to maintain this myself. However, my test kit (K-2006) doesn't arrive till Friday. I have a reading from the pool place stating my CYA was 2. In my opinion that is pretty much just 0. I have a number of questions I figured you guys could help with.
Really looking forward to taking control of my pool myself. I appreciate any advise you guys can give and look forward to learning a lot.
- Should I take their word for it and start by adding the required stabilizer based on their reading (and take their word on the FC and CC as well?
- In further note should I take their reading for any of the other
- I know I need to SLAM (it was green) but should I even worry about the pH, TA, and CH (not really worried about this as I have a vinyl liner) while slamming?
- They said my water had to much metal in it and gave me this long list of things I can do to remove the metal out of it. I noticed that the K-2006 (I didnt get the C because it looked like the 2006C just had more quantity of the tests) didnt have a metal test in it. Is this something I need to worry about? My steps when the pool was clean last year were not stained or anything like that.
- They also said I need to replace my sand in my sand filter which I know you guys have said is not needed but I listened to them before discovering this place and did 2 doses of REVIVE. I am afraid it is super clogged and my sand filter has some crazy plumbing that won't allow you to remove it without cutting pipes and I have no desire to be a plumber in the Arkansas heat (medical condition won't allow me to either).
