Green Pool- just discovered TFP

Ok, one more quick question before I do. Should I test ALL the levels during this phase or should I only be concerned with the FC at the moment?
Just your FC and CC first. As said above, if your FC is over 10 ppm, the pH test using the comparator method will not being accurate. So let’s see the FC and CC number first. Especially if you’re truly in the SLAM right now. The only numbers that matter and you should be checking are FC and CC.

Ok- thank you. I did not understand that before.

Your FC is 7.5. Follow the slam process. Print out the instructions, read them three times and go. Link-->SLAM Process

Please share your pool math logs. Home screen, gear in upper right, scroll to bottom, enable sharing with TFP. Make sure your pool math login is same as your TFP login.

Ok, I will fix my login as I used my apple ID on the app. One question, I am essentially starting over the SLAM process, so my PH needs to be adjusted first, correct?

Correct. Now that your FC is below 10, your pH test is valid, test it. Adjusting pH is the first step in the SLAM process. Did you print it out and read it? 🤣 🤣 🤣

Seriously, you are doing great...and asking great questions.

I didn't print it yet. I have printer issues. But, thank you! TFP always intimidated me before, and I could wing it the last 4 years, but this year, my pool and I are having issues. 🤣🤣.

I'll print the instructions and read it 3 times multiple times a day. 😎

Thank you very much!

Ok- so if my CYA is 100. I need to fix that and retreat PH before upping my FC. My next question, 🥁 roll please, can I start at this again tomorrow? It's a monsoon (not really, but kinda). Or will I regret that and set myself back?

It's a monsoon (not really, but kinda).

If your CYA is 100, you need to do the diluted CYA test...
Just wondering how accurate the CYA test will be since it’s raining outside and not having full sun? I’m asking for my own notes. Will a test indoors in a super bright room be “good enough” for this?

Great question. Rain impact will be minimal...IF, poster @louloubell08 is taking samples, as she should, with an arm dip 16-18" deep. You are correct in your assertion that if she samples from the top 1" or so from stratified water, her CYA will be off. With the pump on and sampling 16-18", cya test will be within margin of error...

If its a monsoon, put a pump in the pool and lower the water a bit, maybe the rain will Help lower the cya a bit.
That’s a great idea! Especially if anticipating needing to SLAM. But then again, staying the course may be the safest bet. Wouldn’t be great if you pumped out more than the rain filled back in. And hard to anticipate how much it will rain.

Electricity and water is not a great mix. Most sump pump cords are 10', you can find 12'. *Most* pools would require an extension cord to reach a plug that is *hopefully* GFI, and rain protected (cover).

Given the risk to the pool owner, particularly with exterior GFCs that that fail regularly, I would not recommend running the pump, particularly with an extension cord in the rain.

Stay safe out there!

Wrong question. (I'm not pointing a finger, I misread at least *2* today)

The question was if she should be testing for CYA with the monsoon / cloud cover.

The dilution CYA test, which already has a doubled margin for error, needs to wait for sunshine.

Good morning ☀️ to my friendly helpers! My morning PH reading is 7.6, and my CYA is still 100. I still have clouds this morning, but it is no longer raining. I'm going to add acid to try and bring the PH down.

If I'm understanding all of your comments, I need to wait for sunshine before doing a diluted water test? I do not have a large testing bottle for that. I have been using this one. I can use any bottle for mixing as long as my ML measurements are correct, right?

edit:
With a pH of 7.6 you are right where you want to be and do not need to make any changes to pH.
