green pool but renovating

I just purchased a house with a pool and in need of some advice. We have an in ground pool and the plaster has cracks. Should I try to shock my water since I have a green pool at this moment from neglect and rain or wait until the pool is drained to be fixed? Is it worth shocking now or wait? The pool is 10yrs old and per inspections there are air leaks in the pumps. Thanks so much!

If you dont plan on swimming in the pool until the renovation and new plaster you can just leave your green swamp alone. It will be drained for the renovation.
