Hi all,

Jacuzzi J-475 owner here. I am wondering about the intensity of the water flow at the Gravity drain/heater input/Clearray return fitting.

I had never really paid attention to it before but noticed it the other day. It came to my attention because a week ago for a short moment I got a warning about the fact that the heater had been turned off because of water flow. A minute later, I got a notice saying that the issue was corrected and that the heater was back on.

My question is… is the flow from there supposed to be as strong as the flow from the other similar outlet (waterfall filtration return)? Because that one is much stronger than the former.

Secondly… how does #22 do all three things? Is it assumed that when heating, the Clearray cannot be on? In one case it’s an output and in the other it’s an input?

Thanks.

Andrew

Post pics of equipment area, circuit board, and wiring diagram (on the inside box cover).
The circulation pump provides flow for all of these returns. It pulls from the filter well or suction plumbing and returns through the heater, uv/ozone, etc. It is a single speed pump and turning off the waterfall (recommended when not in use) will increase flow from other returns but not significantly decrease overall system flow.
Flow errors can be caused by low flow or by a sticking/shorting flow switch.
First step is to remove the filter. If the errors stop, clean or replace filter.
Next, check flow switch operation.
Check circ pump for overheat (touch the metal part and count to 5). A failing pump will burn you.
Check circ impeller for obstructions (even a few hairs can cause the floating impeller to wobble).
The clear ray will turn off for a period (I think 1 hour) after any button on the control is pressed. This does not affect water flow in any way, it is a glorified light bulb.
