I remember from last swim party that the water was getting cloudy. I would think that the sunscreen that was used is the cause.
What can I do before the party to prevent the cloudiness?
Thanks!

What are your pool test levels now?

Pool numbers are usually like this except Ph which is usually 7.2 to 7.5.
FC 4.5
CC 0
Ph 7.8
CH 250
CYA 40
Temp. 86

Water is crystal clear.
Only gets cloudy with heavy use over a couple hrs. Probably SunScreen. I'd like to keep it clear during swim party. I believe raising the chlorine level before party should do the trick. Any suggestions on what level is safe for swimming.

See Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart

Up to 16 is safe for CYA 40. I would target 9 -10 as FC over 10 gives unreliable PH readings.

FC of 4.5 is a bit low for CYA 40. You should be targeting 5 - 7.

I was wondering about “safe swimming” levels as well. FC of 16 is the shock level for CYA of 40. So for a CYA of 60, a safe FC Level is 24 (from the Chlorine/CYA chart)?

Correct ... and really even higher than that would be safe and less active chlorine than you would find in a indoor un-stabilized public pool with a FC of 2ppm.

Here is a table for comparison:
