Globrite to Jandy Hydrocool

Hi,

I've had a terrible record with Globrites/Minibrites:

1. The original Globrite(light 1) replaced after 1 year with another Globrite
2. The original Globrite(light 2) replaced with a Microbrite with an adapter.
2. The light 2 Microbrite burns after 10 months, replaced with another Microbrite after some fighting with Pentair
4. After 2.5 years, light 1 burned yesterday.

Presumably, a Jandy Hydrocool light fits the proprietary Pentair Globrite niche fro what I read on this website. Here are my questions:
1. Has anyone went through this replacement ?
2. Is there a white, not color, Jandy ? That's what I'd prefer since my remaining functional light is white.
3. Is Jandy any better than Globrite ?

That's amazing that Pentair can charge $500 per piece of this garbage !

The Hydrocool lights have not been out long enough for us to have any reliability reports.

The prior generations of Jandy LED lights have not had good reliability.

The Hydrocool lights are the size of MicroBrites and will need the MicroBrite adapter to fit in a GloBrite niche.

Globrites were updated for 2024 and are supposed to have improved reliability. Only time will tell.

Pentair has announced the IntelliVibe Lighting System, which includes a Micro light that can replace the MicroBrite.

The bottom line is that all your LED light choices are new enough that long-term reliability is unknown. Both Pentair and Jandy claim their new generation of LED lights will be more reliable.

Quite depressing really that no manufacturer has been able able to produce a trivial but reliable piece of engineering.
It will be years before we know if they succeeded.

How many years do you expect a LED light to last?

My kitchen lights were replaced 5 6 years ago. None of them burnt yet.

From the EE point of view, what we get @ $500 is utter piece of garbage.

I would not mind paying $50-$100 every two years for incompetence but $500 is rather going too far.
