Troubleshooting a system: pool light is fed off 120v GFCI breaker to an automation relay. Neutral wire is coming off the GFCI to the relay and ran back to transformer. Ground fault pigtail is in place. Typically Neutral comes directly back to the GFCI neutral post from the light. It's reported the home owner has "gone" through 2 transformers back to back.

This is where the depth out my knowledge ends with deeper aspects of automation: Is this configuration with the GFCI neutral passing through the automation relay causing a reaction and ruining the transformer since it's not fed back to the GFCI?

Neutrals should not be switched and should be wired directly to the GFCI CB.

Only hot wire between CB and transformer should be switched by the relay.

It is rare for one transformer to fail let alone two.

We would need details about the failed transformers to comment on possible causes.
