My pool cover is full of water. Placed the hose on cover to drain the water off and rather than the nasty water on the cover draining the actual pool water is draining. The hose was on the water on the cover not under. Why is pool water draining and not the water trapped on top? Help?!?

Your cover is sitting on the pool water and is porous with some holes letting the pump pull pool water.
All you can do is pull the cover off, dump the water together in the pool, and plan on the SLAM Process.

Do you have a mesh or solid cover? Are you sure you're draining pool water? I lose every bit of 2ft of pool water every year due to the weight of precipitation that collects on my cover. As it pushes down on the surface of pool water, it pushes it out of the open return through the winter. Imagine a 3/4 glass of water and adding so much ice, it starts to over flow. This is what happens to an above ground pool with a cover.
