New pool owner (this is first full season with it). Above ground 11,000 gallon pool. Since install I have been blindly trusting pool company and I've been using all Bio Guard products for balancing and weekly maintenance. Each week I use two silk guard complete tablets and 1 lb of smart shock along with 2 ounces of algae complete.

Lately, my family has been getting dry skin and it has felt much harsher to us so I've started to look into the numbers a bit more (tested at the pool store monthly). FC is at 8.9 and CYA is 110. All other parameters seem to be in range. I stumbled upon TFP when looking into why the CYA is so high and realize now that I must have experience CYA creep from the tablets. We also religiously use our solar cover so I think that has prevented a lot of evaporation and contributed to this creep.

My main concern is, what do I do now in order to start using the TFP method? Thanks!!

Howdy!! 🤠

Get yourself a good Test Kit! TFP is founded on testing your own water and staying out of pool stores.

Once that arrives you’ll need to post a full panel of tests! Then we help you from there!

Also - get really comfy with Pool School and all the wonderful articles there. Download PoolMath to your phone too - it’s a life saver.
