Getting awfully frustrated in the process

.is it possible that my readings are off with the start of a new bottle? The drops DO seem smaller than the last bottle, but there's no way I am going to be able to confirm that for you. I tested only once yesterday and I was still at 44. Should I just trust that I am still doing everything right and wait until my levels come down to 35...especially since I am seeing improvements? (I want to say that Thursday was the full moon too, right? HaHa. It was a rough day subbing middle school math that day as well... )

There have been a few reports of new R-0871 bottles giving different results.

Where did you buy the R-0871 from?

So I've found the approximate sweet spot on my pool over the summer to maintain Cl levels at the right spot. Requires about 400-600ml of 10% hypo per day. It's been that way all summer. Unfortunately I ran out of my R-0871 solution. I had ordered the SLAM kit (the 60ml bottle) of it back...

Wipe the tip with a wet paper towel, it will remove the static from shipping…drops will be bigger/normal and results should return to normal…

I wanted to update this post with a picture (because I know that was VERY helpful for me to see other's pictures...you know, light at the end of the tunnel ) And I wanted others to know that I WAS successful with a VERY high CYA and SLAM levels (it was 90 to start out with. We did replace some water...enough for me to tell that it was definitely between 80 - 90 and so I was finally confident with 90 as my SLAM number). BUT I want anyone in the future who reads this that a CYA of 30 is WAY better! I had done a SLAM earlier in the summer and it took a week with a CYA of 30. A week of babysitting my pool. That was doable and helped my 11-year-old son learn some chemistry along with me. Our mistake was being gone (not the mistake, but it didn't help either) while we were finishing that SLAM and resorting to pucks and shock when we came back. Hence the CYA levels of 90. So.....this SLAM took 3 weeks. 3 VERY LONG weeks. (makes sense to me, our CYA was 3 times as much as the first time). 3 weeks of babysitting and recording and being frustrated. BUT, this method worked and we were able to close our pool in October in Minnesota with a clean pool and I will be ready for whatever happens when we open in the spring.
