Gel Coat on Fiberglass Filter Tank

I like the idea of protecting my fiberglass filter tank. I'd also like to avoid getting glass fibers on in my skin whenever it's touched. Has anyone applied gel coat to their filter? There's several local companies that specialize in boat gel coats. I may see if they can professionally apply a gel coat if I bring the top half of my filter to them.

I just did it myself. A light sanding and soap cleaning first, then applied a couple coats of any nice color of your choosing. Go to any local store an grab a can or something like Krylon or any other such product, and it looks like new. No more itching.

Oh man do I go crazy when I forget myself at a pool watching something to happen or not and use my forearm to lean a bit.

Doesn't need to be a gel coat. Even inexpensive spray paint will do the job.

So I know it's pretty uncommon in warm areas, but up north we have these things called 'long sleeve Tshirts' or 'jeans' that work GREAT when working with anything scratchy/itchy.

I'd also sand and paint mine if needed be.

Them winter clothes. I stay away from them if at all possible.

Here so far we've still been behaving like we're more south. This weather is fantastic.

I recently did mine with rustoleum I think it was called Hammered. Washed the filter with a scotch brite pad then after it dried I rolled the rustoleum on. it came out great. Only problem was that it took a long time to harden up like a week or 2 and I got some finger prints on it when I installed it. I just used a brush and brushed more paint on it .
