Gap between solid winter cover and waterfall

Recently bought a place with a pool and cover. Have had two winter closings now, both companies say cover isn’t set up right for closing at the waterfall, which is on a curved section. Result is a gap where water and leaves get in. Contacted the Meyco company and they agreed, should have more than one anchor in the waterfall (currently one eyelet anchor in the middle). Next pool season I’ll look at getting more anchors in. But right now, any ideas on how to close the gap, with the cover already installed? I considered getting a cable, wrap around the waterfall, run it through the single eyelet anchor, put into the hooks on the cover, and try to winch to tighten cable. Probably the small cables and winches used for above ground pools wouldn’t work, but perhaps more heavy duty cable with a come-along winch. Most recent pool company that closed suggested just stuffing some garbage bags to close the gap, and a tarp to prevent water, but I think the runoff from the waterfall will still be substantial enough that I will have to be pumping out water through the season.
Also, even with more anchors I’m not sure how to install, I was told most safety covers have a cable as part of the cover which attached to half hook anchors in the wall, but my safety cover does not have any such cable, just hooks underneath. I feel like there was something intentional in the install, but I feel like there is a missing piece.

Welcome to TFP.

Can you get closer pics of the gap between the cover edge and the waterfall? From the pic you posted it does not look bad.

If the waterfall edge is not straight you are not going to be able to have the cover edge follow it or seal it. You are not going to be able to prevent all the water from draining into the pool.

I would not mess with the cover but work on covering the waterfall and edge with a tarp that directs water onto the cover.

Here are some closer pics. The waterfall isn’t on a straight edge, it has a sort of swoop to it.
Ok, so you would recommend don’t worry about trying to get the cover closer, just cover waterfall with a tarp to direct the water onto the cover? I think I’d then have to cover the entire waterfall, right? I don’t think theres really a ledge to it that could partially cover and direct the water, some would always get below the tarp in the crevices.

Yeah, I would put a big tarp over the entire waterfall with the bottom draped on the cover.

Then use something like waterbags to hold the tarp down against winds.
