frustrated having difficulty achieving clear water

I have a 20000 gal fiberglass pool. Water is cloudy and i can just see bottom in deep end. I do see traces of green in a few areas of pool . Water temp is 78 borates 0, FC is 1, CC is 0. TA is90. CYA is40. PH is7.6, calcium is 220. Filter has been on 24 hrs for 2 days. Pool school tells me to add 1 qt muriatic acid.and 3gals chlorine to slam.. Pool has been opened for about 3.5 weeks and was a lot clearer when i opened up. What to do?

Your FC is way too low for a CYA of 40. You need to SLAM and then keep a closer eye on your FC. I keep mine in the 5 - 7 range for a similar pool. Your SLAM target is 16.
