From a Basic Lawn to Private Resort - We Have A Pool! Controlling Pollen...

Pool is 28,604 gals
Taking the spa reading from the start of pool reading is only 77 gals, so may have to do some math on your spa dimensions to calculate that.
How does this compare to the PB estimate?

I think they estimated 24k gals, but let me find that spec sheet. We were washing clothes, showering, dishwashing, all the regular water stuff 😁.

Anyone in the water yet other than the squatter frog?

80 gal per person per day - so could remove 240 gals per person. so if 3 people - remove 720 gals, 4 people - remove 960 gals
Ok, and in my opening message of this thread the pb figred 24k gals on pool. So off by about 4k gals. The spa is a 7ftx7ft 18" raised spa. So pool is 27884, we have 4 ppl in our home but one of us is only 4 😄.

So regarding balancing this thing, I'm running my first set of tests this morning when the sun is up, what do I need to keep our pool as clear as it is right now? I'll post results when I get the test done.

CYA (start with 50 of your eventual 70 and creep up the rest from there)

FC per your CYA, which can be counted as soon as its soaking because it will be mixed up soon enough.

Log in from your cellphone and long click to save these as phone pics so you have them in your pocket/purse at all times.

Does anyone have a better nylon bristle brush recommendation? The standard one they gave us is murder on my arms and I don't feel like it's getting in all the grooves and curves well when I'm brushing. Also in need of a cordless brush pool vac recommendation, we have lots of debris in the bottom of the pool. I am seriously considering the Betta 2 Solar Skimmer Bot but am I able to use it now or do we have to wait until 30 days are up on the new plaster? Thanks in advance!

Just check your photos of the meter. I used the first 6 digits to do the calculation. Sometimes those lines on the numbers can look funny, so check my readings. I read it as end of fill at 318,604 and the start of pool fill was 290,000
You can just subtract for each of your readings to get the volume of any stage, top of baja shelf, top of bench, etc.

I ran my tests from the pool water this morning here are my results:

PH - 8.2
CL - 0
FC - 0.5
CC - 0.5
TC - 1
CH - 175
TA - 40
CYA - 0
SALT - 600

The startup team told me yesterday that they will not be adding salt or turning on the swcg nor can we put pool robots or anything on the plaster for 28 to 30 days. They will be back out Thursday to add Chlorine and that we should brush two to three times a day. They added calcium to the pool yesterday and started up the pumps and automation system. They will run 24 hours a day for the first 3 days or so and then switch to 12 hours until things get regulated with the plaster dust. Why would salt be at 600 ppm if the swcg? Is it because of the plaster or the calcium perhaps?
This is all that they had out in view yesterday. Snowflake Xtra Calcium Chloride:

Residue salt - no issue. Ask them to address the TA level. Most startups instructions want TA at 80. Also did they add MA to reduce pH? MA will reduce TA so they should adjust TA first.
one other point - did they add sequestrant when pool was filling?

I will ask them. I was working when they came yesterday. I've added our TA to Poolmath app to see what we need and PH. I haven't logged anything yet though other than pool volume. I rounded up to 28k gals for our pool since the
volume is at 27,884k gal. We treat everything as a separate body of water right? Should I log the spa at 80 gals in Poolmath and add soda and ma there also? Thanks

I just ordered 2x13.5lb bags of baking soda from Sam's club, it should be here by 4pm today. I will test TA, PH, and CH again this evening to see if the 16lbs recommended in Poolmath is still needed. I don't think we will see the pool maintenance team until tomorrow. I need to get some MA also, so I'm going to get out later to get it. I don't feel well today otherwise I'd drive myself right ove to home depot now 🤧.

I sent an email out this morning to the maintenance team and they sent someone right over. The Maintenance Team is on it. They came by while our PB supervisor is here and placed baking soda in the pool and they put a chlorine floater in there. I will test later this evening for PH, TA, CH, CL, and FC if I feel any better. They also vaccumed up the debris that were on the floor of the pool. High five to them!🫸🏽🫷🏽😆

Treat the spa and pool as a single volume. Your spa flows into the pool so it all mixes.

If I were you, I'd source any stainless steel items from other sources than Amazon. The quality is way too dodgy, especially when there's fantastic sources like McMaster-Carr.

My order arrived today! Thanks for the recommendation @reggiehammond 🥰

@HermanTX my TA is at 50 today and PH is still at 8.2. This is day 2 after fill. I have baking soda and I put 28000 gals as pool vol in pool math so I can figure out what to do. For my pool to be on target of 80 TA per NPC requirement for new plaster it's saying to add 12lbs of baking soda. Should we do this all at once or just add half that and see where it places us? I want to address TA first then PH. I have some pool chlorine for tomorrow or Saturday since we may have family over getting in with us. Pool maintenance crew won't be back until next week. What are your thoughts on next steps?
