Freeze Protection

Hkd,

Kind of depends on your plumbing..

In my case, I have one valve that feeds my waterfall wall. I remove the valve cover and use a little suction pump that you attach to a drill. I just suck the water out of the pipe until the water level that is left is below the ground level... Then I put the valve cover back on and set the valve actuator to off..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Do I just shut the valve off that leads to the Sheers or is there something more involved? If more involved, I probably wouldn't try to mess with it too much.
If water is pooled at the shutoff valve then it can freeze and crack.

Any shutoff line, like to the sheers, must be blown out or water pooled in elbows can freeze and crack the pipe.

Be very careful closing any valves in freezing conditions. You only have some freeze protection when water if flowing.

Thanks! Ok - so I have a good one for you all! So I changed the speeds like I mentioned above. All of a sudden, I lost the prime to the pump. Went out - reprimed yada yada yada. However, Now - my sheer and bubblers don't seem to be firing - instead - the spillover is overflowing like crazy. The only way that I get that much overflow is when I put the spa into fill mode. Just for the heck of it - I went ahead and put the spa into fill mode - and then my sheers started working. Weird... any idea - no idea what I could have done from the Screenlogic app to create that...

hmm. When I was priming - I turned the return actuator and the waterfall actuator - but I am pretty sure I turned that back to where they were

Turned them using the toggle switch or manually turned them using the handles?

turned them manually. Although - I figured out the issue - the spa side was turned to return. Not sure why that is as I didn't touch the spa - maybe that actuator is going bad? Either way - I flipped the switch to turn it to the correct setting and it seems good now (I hope!). I notice that the sensor lights (other than Cold) is turned on - tell me if I have this wrong but my understanding is that below 50 degrees - the only sensor light that comes on is indicating Cold - all others stay off until the temp raises above 50.
