Foundation coating on AG pool prior to install & for backfill?

I have a used pool uprights and metal wall laid out in my shop (nearly 80' long!). I'm addressing a couple of rust spots then coating with a quality DTM paint. While I have everything laid out, is it worthwhile to coat the bottom inch or two (inside & outside) with foundation coating prior to installing? Also, I have to backfill about 1/3 of the pool roughly 6" high so I could use additional tar to coat the outside of the pool wall, following grade?

Folks have tried all types of coatings to keep their pool from rusting. Give it your best shot. If you come up with a good process that lasts let us know.
