First post!
The pool was built in 2002 by the now defunct Family Pools who built hundreds of pools in North Fort Worth. He was a one-man operation and did not have anyone to take over when he had some medical issues. The tile and coping are still great but the white plaster has a lot of staining and is beginning to form small dimples in the shallow end. We (my son and I) acid washed the plaster about 6 years ago and I was happy with the results. The regular white plaster could still go a few more years but we decided to upgrade the backyard this summer so we are including the pool resurfacing.
We are adding about 450 sq/ft of decking and moving the hot tub further away to add more seating close to the house. We are having a 32' X 12' pergola built up against the back of the house. We chose Stone Scapes mini pebble Aqua White for the plaster and are contemplating adding the abalone shell. We need to make up our minds by Monday!
They have finished the pergola but need to pour concrete around the footings when the pour the deck. They will prep the deck work tomorrow, pour the deck on Friday and start the resurface prep work on Monday. We are hoping for bright blue water when the sun is shining bright. The pool is in full sun until 4 when the shadow of the house crawls across the pool so the water will look much different in the last few hours of daylight. We are also adding a large sun mosaic to the bottom of the shallow end and replacing some tile on the raised beam to match the new backyard theme.
The process of choosing the remodeler and making decisions took months, but we signed a remodel agreement on April 21st. 10 weeks ago! They finally started and things are moving fast now. We had a slow-down waiting for city inspectors to sign off on the pergola, and they will have to come again after the concrete footings are poured. We wanted to be swimming by July 4th but I'm not sure that is going to happen. I will post some pics when they pour the concrete. Right now the pergola still has some support braces waiting for the concrete footings to be poured.
