Fixing a leaky manual air bleed on Swimclear filter

This thing leaks every few years. Just a dribble but it adds up. I take it apart to clean the o ring and grooves, relube and put it back together, and never am able to stop the leak. I can slow it down though. The assembly is only 20 bucks but it is a pain because I have to take apart the filter to get to the nut below. I have an o ring assortment and I have never had luck getting it to seal with any of them. Hayward doesnt seem to sell the o rings or the orange piece separate. Has anyone had this problem?

Nothing I tried ever worked for long. Always thought it to be a poor design. I have removed the O rings, one wrap of Teflon tape, lube, then replace the O rings helps some times.

Are you using Silicone lube?

Maybe try different bigger O-rings.

Could anyone take a guess at what material the O rings are made from? The O ring assortment I referenced earlier is from a plumbing supply house so surely not resistant to chlorinated water. The leak actually stopped this time... until I need to bleed air again I'm sure.
