First time testing and already confused

How pink does the FC test need to get before you stop adding powder? Like faint like pink or 8.0 ph magenta pink??? I just added a few scoops until it was faint pink.

I think these are my results but I'm not confident I did the FC/CC correctly:

FC: 0.5
CC: 4
pH: 7.6
TA: 110 - I guess I added too much baking soda :-/
CYA: 0
CA: 250 - It kept turning purple so I diluted with distilled water and still added the 5 drops of 0012 before testing (was I supposed to still add the 5 drops before even though I diluted with distilled water?)

What to do now? do I need to lower ph? add CYA before adding bleach?

Thank you!

x,

You have almost zero FC because you have no CYA in your pool.

Any chlorine you add will be quickly gone due to the sun.

You need to add stabilizer to bring your CYA level up to about 30 ppm. It will take about 96 oz of dry stabilizer to get you up to 30. I would add 64 oz and then retest and then add a little at a time and sneak up on the 30 ppm.

In the meantime I would add 1 jug of 8.25% bleach each day until the CYA takes hold and you can start measuring an FC level...

I really doubt your CC level is 4 ppm. I'm pretty sure that is a testing error. If you add one tiny scoop of powder and the sample does not turn pink, it just means you have zero chlorine.. adding more powder does not help..

Thanks for posting,
