**First time opening by myself - vacuum to waste?

Hi all,

It's been a while - good to be back on TFP! So, we've always used a pool company to open the pool, but we're going to open by ourselves for the first time today. I'm hoping someone can help with vacuuming to waste... Is this something that I have to do? If so, can you tell me how? Honestly I have no idea. We have a DE filter and I'm good with the test kit, slamming etc... I know how to backwash - but not sure how to actually vacuum to waste (if needed). I've attached a pic of our setup in case that helps. Any advice will help - thanks in advance!

You cannot vac to waste on that type of filter. It requires a multiport valve.

Well, not without cutting a pipe. If it's something you want to add there are options, but all require plumbing work.

Ok - thanks! I guess I'll just vacuum to filter and backwash. We've got a robot that I'll toss in too.
