First Time Managing A Pool

Sorry, the amount of bleach is dependent on your CYA level and your pool size. You use the CYA chart to find the number you should be at, then you use pool math to find the amount of chlorine(bleach) to put in. Do this each hour or so until the FC stays up near to the SLAM level.
So it's test, calculate, add. Wait, an hour or so. Then test, calculate, add, repeat.

This may have been mentioned already, but have you backwashed and recharged the filter with DE? I would imagine that water would clog up a DE filter very quickly. I know nothing about DE filters, but have you broke the filter down, cleaned the grids and recharged with new DE?

It would be nice if you could put your pool specs in your signature...it really helps us to help you.

Im still having issues with the returns. They would stop working after a few hours and then i would have to turn off the pump and reprime. The psi is around 17-20 when the returns stop working.

With a DE filter you need to backwash often during a SLAM. This article explains the process (scroll down to DE):
Pool School - Maintenance and Cleaning of Pool Filters

After the filter is backwashed and is clean make note of the pressure. When the pressure rises 25% above the clean pressure it is time to backwash and add DE again. This can happen quickly with a DE filter during SLAM. Depending on the condition of the pool it could certainly happen in a few hours.

A clogged filter will reduce the flow of the returns.

Ok i backwashed, added the skimmer powder last night. Everything was going smoothly, checked this morning and noticed that the psi is 0 and there is no flow in the pump basket. Do i have to constantly reprime every few hours or something?

FC was 12 last night.
CYA was still 0 last night.

I don't use a DE filter, but I do know they filter like crazy! Yes, you will have to constantly keep a check on your PSI. When you backwash and recharge take a pressure reading, when the PSI goes up 25% from the clean reading, backwash and recharge...seeing that your water is so swampy you may need to set the filter to recirculate at night. That way you can keep an eye on the pressures during the day and not be concerned that the pump will stop at night.

You should be seeing some cya on the TF100 by now.

I already asked this in the Pump subforum and they recommended me to check with a specialist. Going to ask here and if no one knows a solution, i'll check with my local pool company. The issue i have currently is that my jets will stop running after 2-3 hours and the pump loses flow. I would then have to turn off the pump, bring in my hose, reprime, and restart it again. I feel that doing this every 2-3 hours is ruining the slam process.

After you backwash and recharge what is your clean filter pressure? I would backwash and recharge and for 2 - 3 hours watch that pressure like a hawk! When the pressure rises 25% above your clean pressure you need to backwash and recharge the filter. It could be losing prime because the filter is completely clogged...

or you could have a small suction side air leak? either way, you are going to have to either sit and watch it, or try to time it so you can be there when it happens. I don't have sand filter so not familiar with their quirks.

Ran into a problem after slamming.
Slammed it for a week, water became crystal clear almost, had to travel for 2 days, came back and the water became emerald green.
I tested FC the other day, and it was sitting around 15, CYA was 50, PH was 6.8.
I've brought FC to shock level but the water is still light green, not sure how 2 days can change it to green that quick.

I didnt get the chance to do the OCLT test due to having to travel for 2 days.
I just tested again just now, FC is at 8. CYA seems to be under 0? Am i doing something wrong? I dont think CYA should drop that quick, i did dilute the water a bit but it shouldn't affect it that much?

Note: I can see the shallow end and almost the deep end but the color is light green.
