When we open our pool in the spring, I always feel a bit like a newbie when it comes to testing and balancing the water. Our winters are long in Canada, it's been awhile!!

Here are the results of my first water analysis
FC 8
CC 0
CH 275
TA 90
CYA 40
pH 7.8

About the only thing I think I need to do here is increase my CYA to somewhere around 70-80 and maybe lower my pH a tad. Am I on the right track??

Also, we had to do a complete empty and refill (twice!!) last summer, so the borates I had added are gone. That's the stuff that's not necessary, but maybe makes your water feel softer and "sparkle" a bit more right??

Thanks!

If your pool is crystal clear then you have the right plan. If you wanted to SLAM it due to any issues, do that before you raise CYA.

Your memory on borates is correct. :)
