Changed the bottom sock this morning.
Just went to check and this is the top pick. 8 hours per sock is going to kill me. Thought pollen was done. Then wind storm dragged the neighborhoods lawn clippings and tree debris into the pool along with more pollenđź‘Žđź‘Žđź‘ŽIMG_9330.jpeg

Definitely pollen season - either clean the sock or clean the filter.
(I'm a clean the filter guy as once or twice daily skimmer management is a bridge too far.)

I usually clean my DE filter in early March, then mid-April, then again in September to deal with it all.

Woohoo I made this before and it's relevant twice in one day.

You didn't go honking large but should get most the spring if not all of it. Just clean the filter once the crud is done instead of swapping out daily hair nets. (IMO)

Switched filters out yesterday. đź‘Ť Most of this is the wind storm the past 2 days.

The pollen season is in a slow retreat here this year. Pine pollen is gone, now the oak should be about done. I vacuum up settled pollen deposits and change the skimmer sock every day. The pool was opened a week ago, one week earlier than normal, so this hasn’t been much of an issue before. Some pollen dumped in from the cover removal, I’m sure. Though hairnets are at hand, skimmer socks seem to filter the fine pollen much better. I no longer see it floating on the surface of my otherwise super clear water. Hopefully this weekend’s rains have rinsed the trees well, as I am surrounded by them. Changing skimmer socks and using a Pool Blaster Max cordless vac is not a very time consuming chore. All who have been dealing with tree pollen and insects, hang in there and use rubber gloves when tending your skimmer!
