Hello Everyone-
First-time poster here but trying to figure something out that's been stumping me for a couple of weeks. I either have;
1. Some algae in the pool that is trying to take hold but is getting killed off by the chlorine- there is a fine brown silt at the bottom of the pool (see attached pic)
2. Or the particles are old dead algae that is too fine for the crushed glass filter and is being re-circulated back in to the pool.
I think it's #2 though because the pool is crystal clear except for this stuff laying at the bottom and it seems to be concentrated around the jets that send chlorinated water back in to the pool and because of my chemistry- see below.
OCLT test
6/29/2020 9pm FC 4.5
6/30/2020 9am FC 4.25
I understand that .25 was consumed overnight, but I'm thinking that could be due to the 3.5 hours of sunlight from 5:30am to 9am. I mean, hey, it could be algae as well, that's why I'm here. Lol.
6/30/2020 5pm
FC 4.0
CC 0
ph 7.4
TA 80
CH 300
CYA 55
Additionally, the FC @ 5pm is only down to 4.0 which is reasonable- it lost .5 from 9pm to 5pm (18 hours) and it was sunny. That seems about right to me.
Pool info- it’s a 55k gallon, cement bottom, with plaster steps/seating, and vinyl walls. I use bleach for sanitizing.
