Is there a way to either search Members or set up alerts for members/new members with similar interests/pool set ups? For example, vinyl liner pools in the midwest. Or fiberglass pools down south, plaster pools in Texas, etc... Not that I'm trying to exclude conversations or members from my TFP activities, but I don't feel I'm qualified to talk or comment on plaster pools and even a little on different climate pools, so wondered if I could narrow my focus a little. Thanks!

There is a way to Follow Someone if you click on their name.

However, there are a lot of common subjects that you can input to regardless of the construction of the pool. You have a Pentair SWCG which is used on all types of pools, you may have a Pentair automation system that is used on all types of pools. Filters are universal to all types of pools. Cleaners and robots can also be used in all types of pools. Algae is multi-cultural - it will show up in any type of pool. So, there are many things you can contribute to. I find it easy to look at the Unanswered Threads and read the titles to see if that piece of equipment or subject is what I could contribute to. You can also scroll down the list of topics under New Content to find subjects common to your equipment.

All contributions are welcomed and by following threads it is also a good way to learn. I follow several threads on how people in cold climates close their pool. I have no direct knowledge how to do that but I have learned a lot and have contributed on some common equipment issues.

Please Create Your Signature to help us understand what your current setup is and this will help responders to quickly see your equipment and pool details without having to keeping asking for the information.

So don't. :) If it's not interesting you that day, scroll right past it. If it looks interesting that day, go on in and there will be less to learn next time.

Like Herman said, if it's a plaster question that you don't know, well,, we have folks that do that'll be around soon enough. But a plaster pool member may also have 27 questions that you do know.

'Follow' anybody who you'd like to know when they're active.

Thought I had my signature set up. I went ahead and removed some of the ambiguity (no more "impatiently waiting") since my pool is essentially finished at this point. Please let me know if I have something wrong or missing in my signature.

What you can do is pick an area and start reading back on it. I started with the algae area as I did NOT want to have to deal with it so figured if I learned all about it and how to get rid of it IF I did get it I would be two steps ahead. Look at me now  a MOD on a pool forum................me a person that came this // close to not buy this house because it has a pool LOL

A similar feature I've wished for is the ability to search members by location. I'd like to type in a city & state and have the forum show me all members who've provided that locale. Could be useful for finding a nearby emergency pool maintenance volunteer when needed.
