Filter PSI

Hi everyone.

I have an Intelliflo 2 VST pump with a Hayward C5030 filter.

My pool service just cleaned the filters

The pump is currently running at 1500 RPM. According to my inline gauge, the flow rate is 30 GPM. And my filter gauge is showing 6 PSI.

Is 6 PSI reasonable? Or does it indicate an issue somewhere? (water bypassing the filter?)

In case it’s relevant , I’ll add that if I bump up to 2000 RPM, I get 53 GPM and 9.8 PSI. And at 2500 RPM, I get 70 GPM and 14 PSI.

Thanks!

Your filter PSI sounds normal.

Lowe PSI at low RPMs is normal.

Sounds normal. What was the PSI before the filter cleaning? The delta is what matters. An increase of 25% above clean pressure (at the same RPM) is when you should clean the filter.

Increase your pump speed to about 3000 rpm or higher.
Note the pressure reading at that pump speed.
When pressure rises 25% above the clean pressure (at same rpm used above), it's time to clean the filter again.
