filter o-ring lubricant?

No and no
You don't want liquid - the ones mentioned in post #3 and #4 are more of a paste type consistency. Think extra thick tooth paste.

You will also need it for any other O-rings on your pool equipment.... pump lid O-ring, pump drain O-rings, diverter valves, etc.

The 5oz tube will last for years.

OK I guess it makes sense to get the right stuff once.

Thanks. Some relatives were saying I'm going to get screwed on the gasket because it's too cheap ($40+ from Hayward on Amazon). That's why I asked.
Maybe, maybe not. Report on your experience with epoolsupplies. I get my Pentair o-rings for $4 on amazon. $10 doesn't seem out of the realm.

With respect to the o-ring what you’re getting is not at genuine Hayward part, but an Aladdin o-ring compatible with your filter….

They are the manufacturers of Magic Lube II, I would certainly try their other catalog of parts given their history and quality of products in other areas.

Do you think there would be issues with the ring because it's not genuine?
