Filter Issues — high PSI & new DE gets discharged

Hi all,

Looking for some help here... I have a Hayward DE filter. For the last couple of seasons, I think it's run at around 15 psi. Same for the first few days of trying to reopen my pool and clear algae. But then it started running around 25 psi, even after cleaning the filter and adding fresh DE. I didn't think too much of it, since water pressure coming out still felt good and strong.

Last night I went to recharge the system, added fresh DE, and saw that the DE was instantly coming right out of the outlet into the pool. Checking the inside of the filter, there was no coating; just green algae on the fingers.

Any suggestions for what could be going on here? Thanks.

sounds like you have a hole in one or some of the fingers... check them very carefully as even a tiny hole will let DE into the pool.

The Algae will make the PSI go high very fast in a DE filter..
