Hi,

I've noticed that after I backwash my pool, the filter gauge slowly starts creeping up showing higher pressure (little by little), as it normally should. However, after maybe a week or so, the pressure reading starts to drop each day a little bit. Eventually, the pressure reading returns back to the clean pressure level and stays there. Does anyone know why this would happen? Is my gauge broken? Seems weird since it's not just dropping to 0. It does drop to 0 if I shut the system off.

Not sure if this helps...After my most recent backwash (yesterday), I noticed a little (very little) DE pooling up in a couple of spots on my sun shelf. I'm 99.9% sure I didn't add too much DE. I added 10 scoops after my last backwash, using a DE scoop.

Please let me know if you need any more info to help diagnose this.

Thanks a lot!

There could be a weak spot or tear in one of the filter grids. After you backwash/rinse/recharge your filter, the DE powder evenly coats the filter grids. When your DE starts collecting debris and tank pressure rises, weak spots and/or tears in filter grids will sometimes reveal themselves with a decrease in filter pressure and powder collecting on pool surfaces. If you haven't taken your DE filter apart and cleaned the grids in a while, now might be a good time.

Regards,
E
