filter cartridge?

I clean my filter cartridge on average every 2 weeks. is that too much? can I slack off from that somewhat? My filter pressure doesn't rise.

What is the PSI ? 25% of 3 is difficult to see, 25% of 20 PSI is easy to see.

Does the gauge go to zero when the pump is off ?

Which filter? How big is it ?

Which pump ?

Do you have an above ground pool under a palm tree or a 12k plaster pool with a cage that sees no debris?

19k pool spa combo, screened in Lanai, solar heated, Haywood vs pump. normally 18 psi with solar on and pump running, Gage goes to zero when it's off

Only clean it when the pressure rises to 25% higher than the clean pressure. You might be overdoing it but filters in Florida tend to be undersized for some odd reason.

I do not live in Florida and I clean my cartridge filter once a year...

It has a lot to do with how large your filter is, and at what speed you normally run your pump.

Almost every Florida pool I see has a filter about the size of coke can...

What exact filter? Manufacturer and model number....

For some odd reason, Florida pool builders seem to install dinky little filters on Florida pools.
The larger the filter, the less often it will need to be cleaned.
