I’ll start by saying I’m in Austin Texas. It has been hot, but 90’s hot. My pool is mostly in the sun. I’ve been having to add water every few days. I did the bucket test yesterday and the pool lost 1 1/2 inches and the bucket lost 1/8. I’m feeling concerned that there’s an issue. What else can I do to trouble shoot?

Look for any unexpected wet spots in your yard. Leave the pump off and re-do the bucket test. The do it with the pump on. That can help determine which line, suction or return, may be leaking.
If there is a pool light, use a bit of a dye, like Mrs. Stewart's bluing (Wal Mart, most grocery stores), and allow a bit of the blue to be put in front of the light fixture. It will look like blue smoke and be drawn in to the light area if the leak is there. You can put the rest of the bottle in the water for a sparkling-blue, temporary, effect. Won't harm anything.

Then, call a leak detection company that also does repairs. Or just call one and save a lot of work.
