Anyone know how to remove this stuff from the walls? It is white at the water line all the way around the pool. Water has always been properly balanced and maintained.pool 1.jpgpool 2.jpg

Start soft and work your way up. Perhaps a Magic Eraser, kitchen scrub pad, then eventually a 1,000 grit wet/dry sand paper. If it continues below the waterline, it may a never-ending battle of chalky-fading and just a sign the gelcoat is changing.

Yeah, I'm at the wet sand stage now. Nothing else seems to work. Pool is only 2 years old, gelcoat issues concern me. My pool guy said raise the water level and drop the ph. I am not sure how to do that.

I am not sure how to do that.
That would be with muriatic acid. Sort of like a no-drain acid wash used on plaster. But for your gelcoat it's probably not going to work. When I first observed our gelcoat changing, it was around year three I believe. Viking had me drop the water level and pour straight acid onto the top step to check for indications of calcium build up and there was nothing.

how much acid for 10k gallons and running pump for how long.
Here are the instructions. Be very careful. It's not a dump & run process.
