Mesa, az
Hello- I am a brand new pool owner. I have had my pool up for 2 weeks. It is an Intex Prism Frame 16 ft by 8 ft x 42in. I recently have been trying to get my SWG dialed in.
Just a little info, I am in Mesa, AZ. The high temp during the day has been 106-109.
My main reason for this post is to find out if my FC loss is normal and if I have to run my SWG more because of this.
I am using the PoolMath app.
Lets start:
Yesterday at 5PM I tested and my FC was at 1ppm, PH 7.2 , CYA 60
Then at 1AM I tested and had the same exact readings. That was fine and expected.
Then I ran my SWG for 4 hours.
Tested again at 530AM and FC was 3ppm, PH 7.2, CYA 60. Again expected.
Then I ran my SWG for another 4 hours from about 6AM to 10AM
Got home from work right now at 430PM and tested and my FC was down to 1PPM.
Now is this because of the heat? Do I have to run my SWG longer? My pool is in the sun all day also.
Any tips would be appreciated.

613,

SWCGS are designed to maintain your FC, not to get you from 1 to 10...

Add Liquid Chlorine to get your FC into your target range for a CYA of 60.. Your target range is between 4 and 9 and higher is always better than going too low.

FC/CYA Levels

For reference, I run my SWCG 24/7...

If you don't run 24/7, then when the cell shuts off, your FC has to be high enough to still be in your target range just before the cell comes back on.

Thanks,

Jim R.
