FC level while closed?

We closed our agp 1 month ago; covered w/solar blanket and solid cover.FC was 18 when we closed. In FL so the pump still runs regularly, just not as frequently. I checked FC yesterday and it was down to 2. How often should I check FC while closed and what level do I want to keep it at,?

I suspect in FL you don't actually "close" your pool. Not like up north. Much like me, the pump is still on and system runs. You still have to keep the FC balanced to the CYA as noted on the FC/CYA Levels. So test as often as needed to keep the FC in the required range. If the water is chilly, you might get-by testing the FC once or twice a week.

Just like when it was open, you’ll get a feel for how it’s going the week(s) before and expect it to behave similar for the next week. If the FC is holding for weeks and the wether has been similar, great. If it warms up for a spell, double check it. You can spot check it randomly with the block test to ensure it’s still really yellow. Whether it’s an 8 or a 15 doesn’t matter so long as you know it’s well above minimum. Pay attention as it gets low, of course.

One day it's warm, next day it's cold lol. Mostly nights & mornings are cooler, then it warms up to 80 some days. That's why I checked it. Thanks so much, I appreciate your help!

Ok, so long as there is something in there. The weather here is so wacky in the "winter" lol

*exactly* just like the summertime. If you’re well above minimum, great. Move along. If you’re getting close per the recent daily demand, get some in there. But more often than not the winter needs are well spread out.
