FC and CYA levels

Keep going. The more gunk you get off the bottom, the faster you will finish. Your chlorine is attacking ALL organics in the pool. Once you get the gunk off the bottom you will only be attacking the algae. Test and bring back up to SLAM as much as you can. Just let the filter run, and only backwash when pressure rises 25%.

Sounds good, will do. My filter pressure hasn’t raised more than 1PSI since I’ve had it running. Is that odd?

Check your gauge. Should drop to zero when off.

You might want to deep clean your filter. You might have channeling. Basically take off the top and put the hose in there carefully. Push the hose in and let the water do the work. Don't force anything, you might break laterals. You will see tons of stuff come out.

Is my pool filter and pump sufficient for a 28 K gallon pool. My water is still Cloudy.

Overpowered. A two speed or variable speed motor would serve you better in lower electricity costs and better filtering.

Your flowrate from that pump is high. Filtering is better done at lower flow rates. Less 'stuff' is pushed through the filter media.

But, yes, you have a sand filter. It takes a lot of patience to clear a pool with a sand filter.

What kind of cartridge filter would you recommend. I’m kind of over being patient with the sand filter. Dumb question, but could I use that same pump with a cartridge filter? Meaning I don’t need to replace the pump but just the filter ?

Yes you can use that same pump with any filter. As long as the filter is sized to accept the flowrate.

For a cartridge filter, you want the largest you can fit on your pad and can afford.

Have you tried the DE trick with your sand filter? See Add DE to a Sand Filter - Trouble Free Pool

A watched pot never boils...but we have to work with the pool multiple times a day...which sucks lol.
Keep taking pictures, easier to see progress

Patience, you are on the right track listening to the right people on your way to a sparkling pool!

Update:

Pool is looking way better. I had to say the difference for me was surprisingly turning the filter off. I actually though it was more cloudy than it actually was because my jets are very high pressured. Once the filter was off for the night the next morning I could completely see the bottom drains in the deep end! I vacuumed most of the junk to waste! Here’s a pic of the shallow end.
I will be doing the overnight chlorine test to see if I’m done slamming.
